Diving Board Safety

1. All diving boards should be installed according to the manufacturer’s standards.

2. All residential swimming pools should meet the ANSI/ASPS/ICC-5 2011 Standards for Residential Inground Swimming Pools for diving.

3. All public swimming pools should meet the ANSI/ASPS/ICC-1 2014 Standards for Public Swimming Pools for diving

4. Maintain a safe diving board & stand.

1. Inspect diving board for cracks, dry rot, and any other potential problems.

2. Inspect the stand for cracks, rust, along with making sure all bolts are tight securing it to the decking and the board to the stand.

5. Safe Diving:

Common Safety Diving Rules:

1. Only one person on the diving board at a time.

2. Divers must dive straight from the front end of the board.

3. Divers must not spring more than once on the board.

4. Upon surfacing diver must move immediately to the nearest ladder or shallow water. DO NOT swim back toward or under the board at anytime.

5. The next diver must wait until the previous diver has reached the ladder or shallow water.

6. All other general swimming should not take place in the deep end until all diving activity has ceased.

7. No extended dives or dives for distance should be prohibited.

8. All divers must be able to swim the ladder or edge unassisted.
